>Pokemon object lesson from SSTN #12
(From ChristianCrafters.Com-I was just sent a letter by one of our network friends. She was very upset with me for running the Pokemon article. Allow me say to you what I said to her, I apologize if this offended you, that was never my intent. My hope for this network is that it will be a safe place for sharing our thoughts, ideas, and questions. From time to time there will most certainly be things that are shared that not everyone will agree on. I thought the man that wrote the Pokemon object lesson was accurate with his Theology, even though he was using Pokemon to make his point. He used something that sooo many children relate to, and is attempting to have them see Jesus instead.')
The following is "EQUAL TIME" regarding the Pokemon issue:
What's the problem with PokEmon? Its subtle suggestions, images and values are manipulating the minds and feelings of the children who are into it. PokEmon conditions them to accept humanistic wisdom and occult spirituality. Heavy involvement in PokEmon blurs the player's ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality and sears the conscience of the player as well. PokEmon is designed to be a stepping stone to harder occult oriented games like Magic: "The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons."
God wants his children to have a completely different focus. We are even told where our thoughts should be directed in Philippians 4:8 "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." PokEmon does not measure up! I suggest the best place for PokEmon paraphernalia is in the trash can! (Excerpted from original article.)

Easter Ideas Needed:
Over the past few years our Children's Department Teachers have been
having an Easter party for the whole Sunday School from children to
adults. Several weeks prior to the party, a theme is chosen and the
children will work on some type of project that will either passed out
to all who attend the party or passed out on Easter Sunday. Our party is
held on Palm Sunday. The adult & youth classes have Sunday School for
about 15 minutes while the children play various games. Then the adults
and youth come to the party, where we sing songs with familiar tunes
that the words have been changed that deal with Easter. Then one of the
Teachers presents some type of talk and then we have refreshments. We
have used the Resurrection Eggs one year and last year the "The Gifts of
the Easter Basket." We are looking for any ideas for a talk and perhaps
a craft that could be passed out as a gift to all. Does anyone have any
ideas?
Thanks for any help you can give me.
Rosemary Lare
(Very cool idea...I'd like to know, What are the Gifts of the Easter Basket? :o)

THANK YOU so much for putting the butterfly object lesson in the
e-mail. That was actually the SHORT version, so here is the COMPLETE
lesson all typed out! Enjoy:
As the caterpillar is transformed
into a beautiful butterfly,
so, too, the sinner is converted
into a saint, a new creature
giving glory to his Creator.
“Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new.”
II Corinthians 5:17
“---and I will put a new spirit within you;
and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh,
and will give them a heart of flesh---“
Ezekiel 11:19
“---put off concerning your former conduct the old man
which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
and put on the new man,
which was created according to God,
in true righteousness and holiness”
Ephesians 4:22-24
“But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin,
yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine
to which you were delivered.
And having been set free from sin,
you became slaves of righteousness---
but now having been set free from sin,
and having become slaves of God,
you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.”
Romans 6:17-18; 22

(Please note, there is a butterfly craft in the Showcase section to accompany this.)

** Here is a CAMEL object lesson. It is a great lesson for kids,
especially if they have "Humphrey" the beanie buddy collectible. Hope you
like it!:
As the camel heaps his hump
with water for his pilgrimage,
so, too, the Christian is prepared
for praising and petitioning God in prayer
when his heart is heaped
with God’s wonders and will,
His ways and His wisdom.
May it be our distinctive as it was of James
that we are camel-kneeled Christians,
bowed in submission and supplication
before the sovereign God.
“--- I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
that He would grant you,
according to the riches of His glory,
to be strengthened with might
through His Spirit in the inner man,
that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may be able to comprehend with all the saints
what is the width and length and depth and height---
to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
Ephesians 3:14-19
“The Lord is righteous in all His ways,
gracious in all His works.
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him,
to all who call upon Him in Truth.
He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him;
He also will hear their cry and save them.”

I am looking for a craft to do with my kids for Foreign Missions Sunday. Any ideas? It would be for a wide range of kids because we wanted to bring them together to do something special. Susan Camden
