1) Armor of God
>>I'm looking for a graphic or clipart of the Armor of God.
I know that CBD sells armor sets for about $20. They are for a small
child and are made of plastic. I'm sending the page; the picture may
help. When we needed a costume for VBS last year, one of the adults
actually found a suit of armor at an antique store for $40. The rest
made do with aluminum foil covered cardboard and covered plastic hard hats
with aluminum foil for the helmet. HTH, Rebecca

2) Meaning and importance of communion?
I need help to find an object lesson or a way in which to
explain to children the meaning and importantance of communion. We
would like to do something for Good Friday. Does anyone have any

3) Cain & Abel ideas
Under the Sermon's page on the christiancrafters.com site I have a bible
story and food ideas involving Cain and Abel you could do with the kids.

4) Easter for preschool ages
I teach preschool (ages 4,5 and Kindergarten) SS. I was thinking of doing
a "coloring sheet contest" and have prizes. I have done this before when
I was a mgr. at McD's and it went over really well. But I was wondering
if it's too "worldly". I thought of going throughout the neiborhood to
give the sheets out, putting them in the little community store and in the
sanctuary foyer and of course at SS. For prizes I thought an Easter
basket filled with goodies and Bibles. Our church has had an Easter egg
hunt in the past so I am thinking that this might be ok. I would like to
do the hunt again too just after the sunrise service. Any kind of
feedback any of you could be great. I have four to five kids each week
and there are tons more in the community and those are the ones I really
want to reach as well as their families. Thanks for your help. Tawna

5) VBS ideas needed?
I am looking for ideas for our VBS. The theme this year is in the
outback. I am looking for craft ideas, decorating ideas, and snack ideas.
Also game ideas. The age range will be from 3 years old to 12 years old.
Last year we had an underwater theme. I am in Florida and this was EASY!
The outback is much more difficult. It seems kind of boring - with
browns and such. What kinds of things could I do to create excitement?

6) Fund raising?
Dear Everyone, I am so thankful that I have found this wonderful
resource.I am a 3rd -4th grade Sunday school teacher at a Federated Church
in MA.We will be starting the heifer project and raising funds.I need some
help, I dont just want the kids to do a bake sale etc I want something fun
for the kids to help make or do and for the church to respond in a similar
fashion and help us raise our funds.Does anyone have any great ideas that
I can pass along to the kids??Any kind of help would be greatly
appreciated.

7) Decorating A Sunday School Room
>Do you have any neat ideas for decorating our new educational building
I used an outdoor theme for my sunday school classrooms we painted
wildflowers on the wall and butterflies ana bumble bees. The butterflies
and bumble bees were made from the kids thumbprints, yellow thumbprints
for the bees and whatever color for the butterflies. the thumbprints were
side by side for the wings then I used black tulip paint to make the
stripes, antena, and wings, use what ever color tulip paint (puff paint)
to decorate the butterflies. Then I made birdhouses a front, roof, 2
sides, the front and one side got holes. I pulled coordinating fabric
donated by parrisionners through the side holes, the bird houses were
used on either side of the windows for the curtians to be held by rather
than rods. It is very kid friendly for all age groups. Good luck. Diana

8) THE JELLY BEAN PRAYER
I'm not sure who is the author. I received through e-mail. I brought jelly
beans this morning and we recited this poem a couple of times. The kids
(ages 2 yrs to 11yrs) enjoyed this. I really enjoy getting your
newsletters!
RED is for the blood He gave.
GREEN is for the grass He made.
YELLOW is for the sun so bright.
ORANGE is for the edge of night.
BLUE is for the sins we made.
WHITE is for the grace He gave.
PURPLE is for His hour of sorrow.
PINK is for our new tomorrow.
A bag full of jelly beans
colorful and sweet
Is a prayer, is a promise,
is a special treat.
HAPPY EASTER
--from SSTN: we did this during our Kingdom Kids program last year and put
the jelly beans in baby food jars, with the poem glued to the outside of
the jar. The kids glued Easter grass and placed xtra mini Easter ornaments
on the lid top. Very cute! As we read the poem, they placed in the
matching jelly bean colors. The poem needs to be changed to: A jar of
jelly beans...(not a bag). By the way, this too is in the Archives List.

9) Decorating A Sunday School Room
To the decorating the room idea. Kids love lots of color and I have found
with my ss class. (fifth and sixth graders) they like posters. We get
these in our curriculum every three months. When we get the new curriculum
I allow them to pick the poster or posters of their choice to take home.
They really like this.

10) Teaching Books of the Bible
Have two cups, one marked Old Testament, the other marked New Testament,
then in a bowl have the books of the Bible printed on slips of paper.
Let each child take a turn picking out one and then they have to decide
what cup it goes into. Also if you have a activity day or can be
outside instead of using a bowl you can put the slips (one each) in a
balloon and have each child take turns popping the balloons and then
find the slip and put in right cup. I have a class on Sunday Evening's
and they seem to love to play this game. We are unable to use balloon's
as there is church going on upstairs and so the bowl works great. Also
we have sword drills and this helps them. Shirley

11) Soldier's Deck of Cards
The Chaplain noticed one soldier looking at a deck
of cards. After service, he was taken by the Chaplain
to see the Major.
The Chaplain explained to the Major what he had seen.
The Major told the young soldier he would have to be
punished if he could not explain himself.
The young soldier told the Major that during the battle,
he had neither a Bible or a Prayer Book so he would use
his deck of cards and explained:
"You see, Sir, when I look at the Ace, it tells me that
there is one God and no other.
When I see the "2" it reminds me that there are two parts
to the Bible, the Old Testament and the New Testament.
The "3" tells me of the Trinity of God the Father,
God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
The "4" reminds me of the four gospels, Matthew,
Mark, Luke and John.
When I see the "5" it tells me of the Five Unwise
Virgins who were lost and that five were saved.
The "6" makes me mindful that God created the earth
in just six days, and God said that it was good.
When I see the "7" it reminds me that God rested on the
seventh day.
As I look at the "8" it reminds me that God destroyed
all life by water except for eight people, Noah, his wife,
their three sons, and their three son's wives.
When I see the "9" I think of the nine lepers that God
healed. There were ten lepers in all, but only one stopped
to thank Him.
The "10" reminds me of the Ten Commandments
carved in stone by the hand of God.
The "JACK" makes me remember the Prince of Darkness.
Like a roaring lion, he devours those that he can.
When I look at the "QUEEN," I see the The Church, The
Bride of Jesus.
As I look at the last card, "The King," it reminds me that
Jesus Is Lord Of Lords and King Of Kings."
There are 365 spots on a deck of cards, and that is the
number of days in each year. There are 52 cards to a deck
and that is the number of weeks in a year. There are 12 picture
cards and that is the number of months in a year. There are 4
different suits in a deck and that is the number of seasons in a year...
And so, the young soldier then said to the Major, "You see,
Sir, my intentions were honorable. My deck of cards serves as my
BIBLE, my PRAYER BOOK and my ALMANAC. Most importantly
my deck of cards reminds me that I need JESUS 365 days, 52 weeks
and 12 months a year and that I should always PRAY 4 others."
May you never look at a deck of cards the same way.
