1) Ideas for Jesus washing disciple's feet?
I am looking for an idea to do with 3 and 4 year olds.
our next lesson is about Jesus washing the feet of the disciples.
I would like some ideas for a lesson and some coloring pictures.
do you have any ideas. Kim
--from SSTN: I believe it was two years ago...during our church's VBS
program, the children took turns 'washing' each other's feet, as well as
the teacher's feet. A rectangular basin, filled with water, was provided,
along with towels. If I remember correctly, the kids would step into the
basin, another child would pour water over their feet, then the child
would step out and the child that poured, then dried the other child's
feet off. This went on until everyone had a turn washing and drying
someone else's feet. Afterwards, a lesson on servanthood was explained.
Since this isn't a custom that we do today, but it was in Jesus' day,
other ideas could be discussed on how we serve one another today.
YSIC, Sarah<><

2) PLEASE help me find this skit!
Our church youth group is in charge of the Easter Sunrise Service and this
year the kids want to do the skit that goes with the song I think its
called, Look Around. The kids pantomime the parts of, a church group, the
devil, Jesus, a child headed down to hell because of sex, drugs, alcohol,
etc., and they hang sins around a girls neck which Jesus takes on at the
end. PLEASE help me find this skit! Also some praise to share, 4 of our
youth have made the decision for Christ and are being baptized on Easter
morning, what a fitting day to except Jesus' gift! When we started our
youth group 1 1/2 yrs ago we had about 6 kids we have grown to about 20 on
an average week, and since most of them are unchurched kids, we have seen
such huge spiritual growth that it reassures us that God is working with
us!

3) Crafts using recyclables?
We are a small church (30-40 for SS) and would like some ideas for crafts
using throw away items from home (ie., bleach bottles, milk jugs, 2-liter
soda bottles, vegetable cans, etc.) Thank you so much for this site. It
is a wonderful help. May God continue to bless you for your efforts.
Sherry
--from SSTN: Thank you, Sherry!
A few recyclable ideas are in the Craft section at ChristianCrafters.Com:
Celebration Shakers, New Life Butterfly, Reflecting Christ CD Mirror,
Computer Bugs, Palm Candy Tree, and a few other Christmas craft ideas.
It would be GREAT to devote an entire craft section to recyclables...so if
anyone wants to send their ideas, with pictures, I'll post them in the
site. ;o)) Your moderator, Sarah Keith <><

4) Armor of God
>>I'm looking for a graphic or clipart of the Armor of God.
Christian Clipart CD's by Broderbund have all the pieces of the armor of
God in color or black in white, as individual pieces or as the whole
armor put together. I used cardstock to print the pictures on and gave
each child one listing all the pieces, and then I made 8 1/2 by 11
individual pieces to hold up and have them tell me what each one is.
This is a month long unit in the "sunday School specials" book from group
publishing-- a program for 5 year olds to 11 year olds- it includes a
wonderful rap that we performed and crafts to go with each lesson.

5) Jesus to the Rescue-VBS
There is a published curriculum titled "Jesus to the Rescue."
If Sarah doesn't carry it you might try your local Christian bookstore.
Blessings, Eva
--from SSTN: thanks, Eva, for remembering ChristianCrafters.Com first!
And yes, I am able to carry this curriculum and books to accompany it.

6) Meeting to 'kick off' program?
I am in the planning stages of our church's Children's Ministry. Our small
church is starting from scratch and trusting God for the details. Just
wondered if anyone in the network could give me some fun, creative ways to
gather the willing teachers that I am currently recruiting. This first
meeting is to go over the role of teacher and what a priviledge it is to
serve kids. Has anyone put on a meeting (party) like this to kick off the
program ? Thanks for any reply. Trusting Jesus, Julie Richardson

7) Easy piano or a cappella songs?
Hello to everyone! First of all I would like to thank everyone for all the
help you have given me with all your ideas. My question for all of you is,
I am the newly appointed music teacher for ages 3 to 12 or so. I am
looking for easy piano or a cappella songs that the kids will like and I
won't have trouble teaching. Thanks for all your support, please email me
if need be jess_cobb@hotmail.com

8) Expressive American Sign Language
This message is in response to two questions in your newsletter.
Regarding signing suggestions, I highly recommend the "Religious Signing"
book by Elaine Costello. It focuses on most all Christian and biblical
signs.
My oldest two daughters have taken expressive American Sign Language for
the past year. We live is southeast Ohio. The best way to describe
expressive sign language is that certain signs are used and put to music
in a big way. It is not interpreting because you do not sign every word.
They do use American Sign Language,--it's just not word for word and it's
also done much "bigger" than just the normal sign. My oldest daughter is
deaf in her right ear and we had always tried to learn sign language as a
family in case she would lose hearing in her one good ear. When we first
seen this type of signing it was incredible. My daughter immediately told
me that was what she wanted to do! They have taken lessons this past year
and God has since used this talent in such a neat way. It is very
moving and touches old and young alike. The girls do it in both regular
light and sometimes in black light where they wear the face paint that
glows under black light and also white gloves with black shirt and black
pants with white stripes. The emphasis of course is on their hands and
face. Two different effects. Hope this helps. . .Sherri
--from SSTN: there is a book in the Christian Ed section of the Bookstore
at ChristianCrafters.Com entitled, Signing at Sunday School.

9) THE 5 FINGERS OF PRAYER
Although effective for any age it is extremely effective for children 2 to
5.
1. Your thumb is nearest to you. So begin your prayers by praying for
those closest to you. They are the easiest to remember. To pray for our
loved ones is, as C.S. Lewis once said, a "sweet duty."
2. The next finger is the pointing finger. Pray for those who teach,
instruct and heal. This includes teachers, doctors, and ministers. They
need support and wisdom in
pointing others in the right direction. Keep them in your prayers.
3. The next finger is the tallest finger. It reminds us of our leaders.
Pray for the president, leaders in business and industry, and
administrators. These people shape our nation and guide public opinion.
They need God's guidance.
4. The fourth finger is our ring finger. Surprising to many is the fact
that this is our weakest finger, as any piano teacher will testify. It
should remind us to pray for those
who are weak, in trouble or in pain. They need your prayers day and
night. You cannot pray too much for them.
5. And lastly comes our little finger, the smallest finger of all. Which
is where we should place ourselves in relation to God and others. As the
Bible says, "The least
shall be the greatest among you." Your pinkie should remind you to pray
for yourself. By the time you have prayed for the other four groups, your
own needs will be put into proper perspective and you will be able to pray
for yourself more effectively.

10) Winner For Christ-VBS?
We are starting to plan our Vacation Bible School and I was wondering if
anyone had any good ideas for kindergarten-sixth grade for crafts this
year
our theme is sports and being a winner for Christ! Any help would greatly
be
appreciated.
--from SSTN: there were MANY postings last year on VBS Bible Olympics,
that just might fit your theme. Guess where they are? In the Goldmine...I
mean the Archives List, at ChristianCrafters.Com -- There are also some
VBS books in the Christian Ed section of the Bookstore. -- sarah ;o))

11) Need ideas to bring children to church?
I need ideas to bring more children to our church. We have a
very small church 25 members and Sundays I have 9 children, some only 1.
It makes it hard to plan. I see a non-commitment on the parents part to
bring their children every Sunday. Any ideas. I have a lot of fun ideas,
bring the bible lessons to their level, play games, do awesome crafts, and
offer them unlimited attention. Thanks, Wendy

12) Jesus to the Rescue
Dear Debbie, There is a video available from the Doughnut Man Series,
entitled, "Camp Harmony", with a rescue theme. A little boy gets rescued
from the swimming pool and that brings in your title of how Jesus rescues
us. There are also songs in the video on rescuing. It is really a great
video to show the kids. Regards, Liezl Fotiadis, Junior Childrens Division
Co-ordinator, Gauteng, South Africa
