1) Used Lessons...Thank you!

I want to thank Gayle Stokes for sharing her used curriculum with our
church Sunday school department! What a blessing that we have received
from The Lord through her!
If more churches had the insight that this woman has to "pass along"
lightly used, indexed, Godly, resources there would be more churches
helping churches, just as Our Lord intended! God Bless you Gayle your
giving has enriched many already! Thank You Sarah, You too are a Blessing
from The Lord!! Praise God!
Bless You and yours in 2004 !

2) Ornaments from used cards

This is an idea on how to use all the beautiful Christmas cards received
as gifts for the next year. Christmas card ornament stars: Cut 5 same
sized squares out of your Christmas cards. (The larger the square, the
easier to handle. The largest I have made is 4 3/4" by 4 3/4".)  Then
fold square #1 lengthwise once and unfold, then widthwise once and unfold,
the creases should be so that you only see the outside/colored part of the
card. You will have created 4 creased squares. Then, flip the card over and
make diagonal folds, fold corner to corner and unfold, then opposite
corner to corner and unfold. The diagonal creases should be the
inside/written part of the card. You will have created 8 creased right
triangles. Then push the outside/colored part together. If you are looking
down on it with it in your hands, it should look like an X or a lower case
t. The "outside"( not glued to any other squares, showing once all glued
together) of the folded square should be 4 creased edges with&! nbsp;a
point, this point should be the center of the square if it were to
be unfolded. The "inside"(attached to 2 other squares, doesn't show once
all glued together) of the folded square should be 4 outside edges of the
square and the point: the four corners of the square, if it were to
be unfolded. Repeat this for the remaining 4 card squares. You can then
hot glue the squares to each other. Each square should be glued to 2 other
squares. Glue the edges of the square that are not creases(the outside
edges) to another square, 2 edges per attached square. Once all
the folded squares are attached together, punch a hole in one of the star
points and string some ribbon or beaded string through the hole and you
have a hanging ornament.
I hope this doesn't sound too confusing, it takes about 15 minutes to make
each one once you get the hang of it. I saw something similar on a tv
craft show but mine didn't come out like the lady on the show, I got this
instead. Which is just as beautiful.

I asked the receptionist at work to save me all the Christmas cards we
received from customers/vendors and now I have a variety of colors and
patterns to use for next year.

4) Ocean globes

add water in a jar or plastic clear soda bottle, add a little oil
(vegetable) then add blue food coloring. clear glitter looks like sand,
add sea shells, little plastic fish, some add decorative fish hooks (
careful not to get hooked yourself). you can find decorative items in the
fish department of the store and craft selection too. hope this helps you.
also you can cut out of magazines pictures to glue on the bottle and
jars.material fish works good too.

--from SSTN: Another option is to use glycerin rather than oil. You can
find glycerin at a drug store. ysic, sarah keith

5) John the Baptist craft

I have a great idea that I am using for a workshop rotation on John the
Baptist. The kids just loved this! We used clear melt and pour glycerin
soap and added a fragrance to it. Melt half of approx. 6 oz. of soap in
the microwave for about 20 sec. Pour half of the soap in a mold (we used paper
cups), let it set up for about 5 - 10 min. Using  inexpensive cross
necklaces, push a cross into the soap and then pour the remainder of the
melted soap over the top of the cross (you may have to remelt the
remaining soap for about 10 sec.). Let the soap sit in the cup for about an hour and
you have soap on a rope! We used this in a lesson with John the Baptist to
show kids that just like soap, spiritual baptism cleanses our souls. This
was a fun and useful craft. It was relatively inexpensive. About $50 for
40 soaps.

--> Amazing Miracles of the Bible

God’s glory and love are revealed through the miracles he performed and
were fully realized when he came to earth in the form of a man to save
mankind. By studying the miracles of the Bible children will gain a better
understanding of God’s love and faithfulness and how he continues to be
loving and faithful in miraculous ways to his people today. Great for
rotation-type programs!

7) Rally Sunday

Here are a couple of ideas:

a.    What about a baseball theme and "Step Up to the Plate". You can use
it as a recruitment tool or commitment from parents to step up and have
their children at church school. You can do some contests with baseballs
(tossing through a tire) and look at ideas in Oriental Trading. (Using a
baseball to knock down some milk jugs). You can also make stickers for
those who have already volunteered to be a part of your program that say
"I Stepped Up To the Plate" as a recognition for those individuals. Add a
few hotdogs and some ice cream.

b.  Rodeo theme - "Rounding 'Um Up!" Have someone teach how to throw a
lasso and use it in some contests. Of course, a Rodeo clown can keep
things
interesting! Again, Oriental Trading has pages of supplies (like sheriff's
badges and cowboy hats) and just a little thinking could come up with
several other ideas. You might suggest a church-wide bar-b-que.

Hope these help get the creative juices flowing!
