1) Sunday School Graduation/Awards Ceremonies
At our Sunday School, if the children are being promoted to another
class, they may get a certificate or a coupon at a local restaurant
(i.e., Wendy's, Burger King, etc.). The teachers normally concentrate on
a lesson that the children really enjoyed and present it to the
congregation in the form of a group presentation. Sometimes, the smaller
children will memorize a bible verse. One of the best presentations was
when the children played a bible trivia game (answering questions out
aloud) in the form of a TV game show. Hope this helps,
Ahreita Griffin-Charlotte, NC

Multi-Aged Curriculum
Sunday School Specials (Vol. 1-4), has quick and easy Bible lessons for
combined ages! A lifesaver for small churches that combine multiple aged
groups! Great for large churches that host family nights, and small groups
with kids to entertain. You can get all four books in the 'Christian
Education' section of the Bookstore at: ChristianCrafters.Com

2) Prayer Acronym
An acronym for Prayer is PUSH - pray until something happens. You can get
bracelets with that on it. Anne - Sydney Australia

3) Plinko board and sucker tree
These sound very fun, and thanks for the very clear directions. What do
the kids do to win the prizes? For the Plinko board, do they throw the
coaster at the board, or just stand at the top and let the coaster slide
down? Also, for the sucker tree, do they throw a hoop or something at it,
or just pick a sucker? Belva from Montreal

HELP KEEP SSTN ALIVE
SSTN has a voluntary subscription so that no one, or no church, is left
out. However, if you, or your church, CAN afford to pay the minimal fee of
$12.00 for a one year subscription, (that's only one dollar per month), I
am asking that you do so, in order to help keep SSTN alive! Your
webservant, Sarah Keith.

newsletter under the heading, 'Voluntary Subscription'.

4) Fall Festival Ideas
A couple of ideas we do at our fall festival, is a cake walk. We ask the
ladies of the church to bake cakes to donate. This is really big with our
kids. We also had a hayride ( our church is off the main road so that
worked well) We used to do the bobbing for apples, but that gets messy
with the water and all. Depending on the weather, too, a weiner roast or
marshmallow roast, ( of course making sure there are adults around) We
also
had a costume contest, but we also ask the children to dress as a bible
character or animal, and not give satan glory by wearing a witch or goblin
costume.

6) Help with Senior Citizens' Banquet
Hi. This year, I will be taking over the Senior Citizens' Banquet for our
congregation. It is usually held in a private room in a local restaurant
and each senior is sponsored by a member of our congregation. I am kindly
enlisting the help and ideas of everyone to make this event a big success.
I would like to give a unique gift to each senior. I would also
appreciate any type of theme or anything -- to make this day (in the
fall), fun and memorable. You have come through for me in the past, and I
enthusiastically look forward to everyone's input! Yours in Christ,
Rochelle in Ohio

7) Clubhouse idea
This is for Denise who is making the clubhouse. Last year our VBS had the
Can Do Club and each class had a club and made clubhouses out of our
rooms.
Our class got a refrigerator box and cut a door in it and two windows,
then
we used it as the entrance to the room. We hung paper streamers on the
back side that led into the room. The first night of class each kid
painted their name and a symbols that reminded them what they CAN do for
God on the box. They loved ducking in the small doorway to enter the
clubhouse each night. Hope this helps. Amy Smithfield NC

8) Pastor's Anniversary Gift
This year marks our pastors 20th anniversary at our church. Some of the
women in our church got together and are planning a surprise party and as
a gift are puting together a scrapbook. Each family or each single member
will put together a page with pictures and other important things the
pastor has done for them. I"ve only been there 4 years but i'm planning
on putting in a few pictures from my daughters dedication... a couple of
poems and pictures from events i've attended.

9) Father's Day Lesson
For future reference, I want to share a VERY EASY and INEXPENSIVE fathers'
day lesson we just did with our 2-4 year old Sunday School class. First,
we read a story about father Abraham from a book with great illustrations,
especially the page showing a sky with Abraham looking up at the stars.
For the craft, we gave each child dark blue construction paper and a sheet
of shiny star stickers. Each sticker sheet cost $.75 and had about 20
stars in various sizes and colors. The older kids pulled the stickers off
by themselves while we helped the younger ones. It was neat to see how
each child thought the stars should look, some put them randomly on the
paper, one made a rainbow, one grouped the stars by color, and another
grouped them like a waterfall, etc. They were very proud of their work!
They also glued on a strip of paper with the message "God, our Father in
Heaven, told Abram 'Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are
able to count them. So shall your descendants be.' Gen. 15:5" We sang and
danced to the song "Father Abraham".
During play time at the end of the class, my helper and I interviewed each
child individually (with very little prompting) and filled in their
answers
on a sheet of colored paper entitled "My Special Daddy". The children
enjoyed telling us about their dad and all the parents loved reading it!
Here are the questions we used:
My Special Daddy
My Daddy is the most wonderful daddy in the world!
He is as handsome as a .
He is as strong as a .
He can lift lbs. and is ft. tall.
His favorite food is .
His favorite activity is .
In the good ole days when Daddy was little, he used to .
I think my Daddy looks funny when he , but I know when he is
really mad he .
I wish my Daddy would with me everyday.
I would not trade my Daddy for .
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY! LOVE, ______________
(Date)
Hope this helps someone next year! Kim from Springfield, TN

10) Old Fashion Day ideas?
I am looking for ideas for an Old Fashion Day. Any ideas ?
<>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <>< <><
11) Missionary Mail?
Have any of you ever mailed a box to a missionary? We would like to send a
box of craft supplies to a children's ministry worker in Romania, but UPS
says it'll cost us $400! The box probably weighs about 20 lbs. Any
suggestions what we can do / should not do? Sending money is not an
option, the craft supplies just aren't available for her to buy. Belva
from Montreal.

12) The "Secret Window" message
In the "Truth Trackers and the Secret of the Stone Tablets" vbs
curriculum, archeologists (teachers) & diggers (students) search for the
truth through various Bible stories about Daniel, Joseph, Jonathan,
Zacchaeus & "the rich young man" who wanted to know how to go to heaven,
also the Ten Commandments. Each day they reveal on the Truth Trackers
Banner that day's "Secret Window" message of Honor God, Honor Family,
Respect Life, Respect Others, Truth Revealed. These coordinate with one
or
more of the commandments, the Bible stories above, and scriptures
throughout both OT & NT. It's a great, fun, and enriching study! Hope
this helps! Keep up the great ministry of SSTN! Love in Him, LaVonta
