For Judy wanting an Ocean theme:
I have been the craft director for our VBS for several years, one year we had a tropical island theme and several of the crafts would fit into an ocean theme. One of my favorites, that the younger children loved was to collect empty 20oz. soda bottles, during craft time using a funnel, let the children fill them about 1/3 full with sand. Then add tinny sea shells, fake pearls, sea theme buttons, strips of green tissue paper(seaweed) to the sand. Cap the bottle. This is called "Buried Treasure". You would be amazed how long the children will sit and play with this "toy", as you rotate the bottle, and the sand shifts, it reveals the "treasures" in a never ending display....they were mesmerized. it was cheap, easy, and they loved it!!!!
Another simple craft was to take purchased seashells, drill a 1/16th hole in the top with a mason's bit, add rainbow cord and place a Fish sticker in the covered side. These made beautiful necklaces.
If you need any more ideas I have plenty!!!!

SonZone Discovery Center:
Dear M.C.
Our VBS this year is a science theme it is called SonZone Discovery Center and it is made by Gospel Light. It is an awesome program, we can hardly wait to get started. I go the program through our Family Christian Bookstore. But I am sure they are on the web too. Try www.gospellight.com

> Ocean Oddessy
Our VBS had a fishing theme several years ago and I think these crafts would
work for you.
1) Put large sheets of blue paper up on the walls. Cut out fish shapes out
of kitchen sponges, glue on a clothespin for a handle, and let the kids dip
them in different colored paint and paint "fish" in the "ocean" of blue
paper.
2) Put blue toothpaste in a zip-lock baggie. Tape the top closed (to avoid
messes). Let the children spread the toothpaste around inside the baggie.
When it is spread around it looks like water. Then the kids can put fish
stickers on the outside of the baggie and have their own little ocean. This
is great for small children.
3) Use tubs of water, either with small boats the kids can sail on top of
the water or with a toy fishing set so that they can be fishermen. These
ideas also are best for small children but can be used with many bible
stories (fishers of men, calming the sea, etc.)
Best of luck in you VBS. My prayers are with you.

Bible Potpourri
(From ChristianCrafters.Com- One of our NEW network friends wrote in to ask if anyone has heard of the Bible Potpourri, with accompanying Scripture verses. If so, what is in it? Where can it be found, or how to make it? She said:
"I WAS TELLING SOMEONE IN MY PRECEPT BIBLE STUDY GROUP ABOUT THE BIBLE POTPOURRI, AND THEY WERE ANXIOUS TO SEE IT. I ALSO HAVE REALLY BEEN RACKING MY BRAIN TRYING TO REMEMBER WHAT ALL WAS IN IT. I KNOW THERE WAS ROSEMARY, CINNAMON, BAY, BUT BEYOND THAT I DON'T RECALL ANYTHING. I WENT INTO OUR BIBLE BOOKSTORE HERE IN TOWN, THE OTHER DAY, AND FOUND SOME CANDLES WITH THE SCENTS OF MYRRH, FRANKINCENSE, BALM AND CASSIA. THEY ARE REALLY NICE BUT THEY ARE A LITTLE PRICEY. WELL, AGAIN THANK YOU FOR YOUR INFORMATION AND I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE POTPOURRI INGREDIENTS AND SCRIPTURE."

Ocean Oddessy Idea:
A few years back I went to the beach with my children and we brought back some dry beach sand and shells. -- I don't want to rub this in or anything, but I live a mile from the beach, here in sunny south Florida :o)
I had my children dip the palm of their hands into tacky glue, then press the glue onto blue construction paper (8" x 11"). Then we sprinkled the beach sand onto the glue prints and let it dry. I placed the hand printed paper into the back of one of those clear acrylic shadow box frames (8"W x 11"L x 1" D). We placed the shells and the remaining sand into the bottom of the frame and closed the top of the box frame. (You might want to glue the frame shut so the sand doesn't sift through. Also, you can buy 5" x 7" frames to make a single hand print.) My children gave this to their daddy for Father's Day. However, the Bible Points that come to mind are:
"We Are fearfully and wonderfully made--Our Love for God" Psalm 139:1-18
"The Wise And Foolish Builders" Matthew 7:24-28

> Does anyone know of a good Christian Music Internet site?
www.musicforce.com is a web site with all genres of Christian music.
CD Universe is another site that includes Christian music (I'm enjoying a
new Petra CD from them right now). I believe both sites let you play
clips from many CD's on your computer so you can check out an album
before you buy it. (Very helpful.)
