1) Paper Cutting Sermon / with drawing
>cut a hole in this sheet of paper big enough for you (the teacher) to
>step through.
I've done this one & the kids are amazed. Here's instructions & a picture
that I hope turns out. Practice a few times before doing it in front of
the kids, so you can work the bugs out first.
Fold paper in half. Hold paper with fold pointing down. Starting at the
fold, cut up almost to the edge of the paper, but don't cut all the way.
Move over and cut down almost to the fold. Repeat until the end of the
paper. The last strip should be cut up from the fold or it will just make
one long strip. Then cut along the fold EXCEPT for the two end strips.
When you open it, it'll be a big circle big enough for you to step
through. With a little practice, you can also make it big enough for all
the kids to get inside.

--from SSTN: I've had a number of responses to this, so to save space,
I'll only print this one explanation because it has a drawing. I have
tried this using a post card and it worked! Really cool. I'd like to place
a pattern of it into the website...but here's the catch, I need an
original lesson to go with it. If you have an original lesson idea to
accompany this activity, send it in and I'll publish it in the website,
crediting you of course, along with a pattern to print and cut out.

2) Prayers for 3-4 yr olds?
I teach children's worship for ages 3-5 and was wanting to know if anyone
had some good prayers for this age group (other than food blessings).
Simple prayers with movements would be ideal. Thanks.

Here is a list of some of my favorite web sites for

4) Back to School
<<
I am also asking the church members to donate small school supplies
(pencils, erasers, glue, etc.) so that I can give each child a small lunch
>>
Hi Samantha:
What a wonderful idea, and it brought back memories of a few years ago
when the Minister was talking about the Parable of the Talents. Each
family in the church was given $20.00. A couple of families put ads in
the newspaper about our church, some grew vegetables, etc. and your idea
would have been perfect. If we ever do it again, I am going to use that
$20.00 to buy small items and make gift bags like you suggested. Thank you
for your idea and your talent.
God bless,
Joni

5) Pig prints outs
> > I am looking for pig printouts that are printable to color.
Go to http://www.learningpage.com .... I downloaded all kinds of things
(zoo animals, ocean animals, farm animals, insects, reptiles, etc.) and
put them on floppy discs. Best thing about it all - FREE! I do
believe you have to register ... very simple process. These are images
that are for coloring ... in black and white.

6) Wednesday Night Programming
We started a Wed. night program 3 years ago and we decided to go with
Pioneer Clubs of America. This has been an awesome experience for our
children and adults. I would definately look at checking into their
program, there are club groups for age 3 through high school. We also have
a Wed. night supper each week from 5:30 - 6:30p.m. This has helped out
Wed. night attendance considerably. Parents can just pick up their kids
from work and come straight to church for a delicious supper and then
participate in our Wed. night programming which includes Pioneer club,
Adult Bible studies, choir and nursery. There is something for everyone
each Wed. night Sept. - May.

7) Harvest Party
Last year we had a wonderful program which included pumpkin carving. A
farmer from our church who raises pumpkins donated a whole trailer full of
pumpkins so everyone could decorate. We held it in the fellowship hall and
invited families from our congregation. We had "It's The Great Pumpkin
Charlie Brown" on a T.V. and asked each family to bring a snack to share.
There were also fall related crafts for the kids. It was a very fun and
rewarding evening.

8) Motivating kids to sing
This is in reply to the message from Monica in Alabama regarding
motivating
kids to sing (sstn #86). Monica, what is the CD called that you have? I
too am struggling with a group of 30 kids (ages 4-12) that do not like
singing. I'm having a hard time finding a CD with decent music on it that
the kids will enjoy. I love your idea of the song book - as long as all
the
songs are covered under our copyright agreement!
Thanks, Sara - Coquitlam, BC

Kidzoo-Shuffle Is a BLAST!
The Kidzoo-Shuffle game helps children to develop eye-hand coordination,
depth perception skills and strategy plays. Kidzoo-Shuffle is a blast to
play indoors or out! Developed by Sarah Keith for kids ages 5 and up.

9) Children's Ministry in need!!!
I've been searching the archives a lot these past weeks (I only found the
site a few weeks ago) and have found great ideas. Thanks to everyone who
contributes, I'm sure it has helped many like myself.
Last January, I was asked to take over the Children's Ministry...sadly to
say there was not much of a ministry and that's why today I'm asking
everyone who has on their hearts to help our church to respond to me. We
are in great need of curriculums of all kind, puppets, props, costumes
etc...anything you have on your heart to give would be appreciated. We
are
located in Quebec, Canada. Our pastor started the church a few years ago
having on his heart this province and I can tell you that it is a real
mission field, contrary to what some may believe. Most of the people here
are closed to the gospel therefore it makes it even harder to reach them
and especially their children. So like I said, if you have us on your
heart I would like to hear from you even if it's just for words of
encouragement.
God Bless,
Sophie Laurie

10) Tower of Babel
>I'd like to teach a unit (3 Sundays) about the Tower of Babel during
>Children's Church (ages 4-6th grade).... if anyone has any additional
>ideas or suggestions.
Cathy,
I don't know what kind of schedule you have in your service or if you have
time for a drama but one thing we did in our Children's service was a
dramatization of the story. We used the "Adventures in Odyssey" radio
dramatization and lip synched as we acted it out. It turned out well and I
have heard kids talk about it even years later.

11) Fall Festival
We don't have a Harvest Party but we do have a Fall Festival at our
church. Maybe these ideas will help. The various "ministries" of our
church each set up a booth in our fellowship hall to explain what they're
all about and have sign-up opportunities for others to join. Some booths
have food or games as well as information. The music groups - choir,
bells, children's choir - the Committees - Christian Eduation, Mission,
Congregational Life, and Worship have booths as well as the "garden
angels" who take care of the church grounds, Women's fellowship, Bible
study groups and so on. Anyone with a ministry may set up a booth. We have
lots of food, fun, and fellowship - a wonderful time and a great way for
everyone, especially the new members or visitors, to experience how we
serve the Lord.

12) Kid's Bulletins
To Maureen who was interested in Kids' Bulletins: A source that I use for
bulletins is Children's Worship Bulletins, 4150 Beldon Village St., 4th
Floor,Canton, OH 44718. The cost is $12.54 per quarter and you get a
bulletin for each Sunday that you can reproduce on a copy machine. There
are two versions; I get ages 7-12.
Our kids really like the bulletins and come
looking for me to get them before church starts. Each one is based on the
Revised Common Lectionary New Testament scripture.
