Jesus is the Rock
Your financial support makes resources like this available! Give now!

Celebrate ROCK-tober with a simple Bible lesson and craft that reminds children Jesus is our Rock! Discover Scriptures about God's strength, protection, and faithfulness, then decorate river rocks as reminders of Psalm 18:2.

Discussion
Ask children to hold their rocks and describe how they feel. Are they hard? Strong? Solid?

Explain that the Bible calls Jesus our Rock because He is strong, faithful, and dependable. Just as a rock is solid and firm, we can always depend on Jesus!

Bible Memory Verse
"The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer." Psalm 18:2

You will need
Smooth, flat river rocks (one per child)
Colorful paint markers or permanent markers
Optional: Clear acrylic sealer (adult use)

Directions
Give each child a smooth river rock. Have children use decorative markers to write JESUS across the rock in large, colorful letters. On the back write Psalm 18:2. Encourage them to decorate around the name with patterns, dots, hearts, or other designs.

Take-Home Challenge
Encourage children to place their ROCK-tober rocks somewhere they'll see them every day. Whenever they see their rocks, they can remember that Jesus is their Rock and thank Him for His strength and faithfulness.
