This fun, interactive Psalm 23 Bible game is a great companion activity to our Psalm 23
Good Shepherd Bible curriculum! Children will practice balance and coordination as they carefully navigate a challenging path toward the cross, reinforcing what it means to follow the Good Shepherd as He leads us in paths of righteousness (Psalm 23:3). Perfect for Sunday school, children's church, and VBS.
This game coordinates well with our Paths
of Righteousness lesson.
Object of the Game: Players must walk along the “Path of Righteousness” without losing their balance or falling off the path.
Set Up: Using Rigid Dome
Cones, create two paths extending from the starting line to the opposite end of the playing area. Space the cones close enough for children to step from one to the next, but far enough apart to make balancing a challenge.
For larger groups, you may need additional sets of dome cones to accommodate more teams.
If you have a large cross, such as the playground cross made from PVC
pipe, place it at the opposite end of the playing area to mark the destination.
How to Play: Divide the children into two teams and have them line up at the starting line.
At the signal to go, the first player from each team begins walking along the “Path of Righteousness,” stepping carefully from cone to cone.
If a player loses their balance and steps off the path, choose one of the following rules before beginning the game:
*Easier version: The player gets back on the path where they stepped off and continues.
*More challenging version: The player returns to the back of their team's line and waits for another turn.
When players successfully reach the cross, they may either run back to the starting line, staying clear of the paths, or sit behind the cross and wait for their teammates to finish.
Winning the Game: The first team to have all its players successfully walk the entire “Path of Righteousness” wins!
Play as long as time allows.
