Faith to Move Mountains

Bible Skit for Children's Ministry

Characters: Teacher, student, and a class of children.

(The group sits in chairs in a half circle. If you have an audience position the chairs to face them.)

Teacher: Before I start today's lesson does anyone have a prayer request?

Student: Oh, I do.

Teacher: Ok, what is your prayer need?

Student: Well uh, I want to have faith--faith to move a mountain, like Mt. Rushmore!

Teacher: Ok everybody, join hands, and let's pray that we all have greater faith.

(All of the children and Teacher pray together.)

Teacher: Today we are going to talk about faith.

Student: Really?! You mean God is answering my prayer already?

(Everyone laughs)

Teacher: Do you know that Jesus told his disciples that they didn't have enough faith either? Listen to what Matthew 17:20 says, "You don't have enough faith," Jesus told them. "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible" Matthew 17:20 (NLT).

Teacher: What if I told you that you already have a bunch of faith; you use it everyday.

Student: (shaking his head) Not me.

Teacher: By a show of hands who walked into this room? Were any of you nervous your legs would not work? Isn't that walking by faith?

(All of the children nodded their heads in agreement)

Teacher: And how many of you used their arms this morning? Were any of you afraid your arms wouldn't work? Were you not using your arms with faith?

(All of the children again nodded in agreement.)

Teacher: And how many of you are worried that the chair you're sitting in will break? Aren't you trusting that the chair will hold you up?

Student: Wow, I guess I do have some faith?

Teacher: Yes, we use faith everyday. So by faith believe that any obstacle in your path God can take care of it. The same way he takes care of your steps and your health each day.

Student: Gee thanks!

(All of the children agree.)

The End.
