1) Lighthouse Cup Craft

This craft was originally shared in Family Fun Magazine and on several Pinterest sites. It is easy to make, the kids love them, and it goes perfectly with our Lighthouse Bible Lessons! I also made a round pattern of the theme Bible memory verse for the kids to cut out and glue to the top of their lighthouses. The verse says, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" John 8:12. (Many of the kids have already memorized it in less than ONE WEEK using the Vanishing Words technique.) The Lighthouse Cup Craft consists of a 16-18 oz. colored cup, 1/2" colored and black tape, a 6 oz. clear cup, and a battery operated tea light candle. (Assemble as shown.)

The lighthouses make for a great night light for children.
Jesus is always near, so there's no need to fear!

2) Lighthouse Bible Memory Game

This game is to be played after spending some time memorizing your Bible verse or verses. If you're playing in conjunction with the Lighthouse Bible Lessons, it is a fun way to reinforce the theme verse, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" John 8:12. Children will also have the opportunity to use the lighthouses they made, see pictures above.

To play, have teacher(s) and children sit in a circle with their lighthouses turned on and placed in front of them. You will need a small ball. Teacher begins by holding the ball and saying the first word from the Bible verse, "I," then passes the ball to the next person, who says the next word, "am." That person passes it again, saying the next word, "the," and so on until the entire verse is stated. If a player doesn't know a word, he/she must turn off his/her lighthouse, and pass the ball to the next player in the circle. However, if the ball goes around the circle again and lands on a player who's lighthouse is off, that player may turn it back on and say the correct word. Play several times so children have opportunities to listen and learn the verse!
