Serve One Another

Summer Camp Craft: Tiled Mosaic Tray

Your purchases and donations to the site help to distribute our children's ministry resources to churches across the world.

An excellent summer camp craft or Sunday school craft, to emphasize Galatians 5:13, "Serve one another in love."

What You Need: Wooden tray; flat, broken pieces of ceramic; premixed, sanded adhesive grout; plastic spatula spreader; large, flat sponge; water; cloth, permanent marker.

What You Do: Evenly spread grout into tray, approximately 1/8" thick. Press ceramic pieces into grout. Do not allow more than 1/2" between the pieces. Your design can be abstract as shown in the pictures above, or a representative design. Allow to dry about 24 hours. Apply grout over ceramic with spreader to fill cracks. Begin wiping top of ceramic off with a barely damp sponge. If the sponge is too wet, the grout will dry with bubble marks. Keep sponge flat so as not to drag grout from between ceramic pieces. Clean sponge after each wipe across. Squeeze water out completely and continue wiping until a thin haze of grout is left on ceramic pieces. Allow to dry another 24 hours. Buff tile to a shine using a damp, clean cloth.

On the sides of the tray write the Bible verse: "Serve one another in love." Galatians 5:13
