God's Names
The I Am's of God

Before teaching the names of God to the children in your ministry,
listen to this amazing YouTube video. It's a great inspiration!

Read Exodus 3:1-15

When Moses asked God what he should call him, God said, "I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: `I AM has sent me to you.' " God also said to Moses, "Say to the Israelites, `The LORD, the God of your fathers--the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob--has sent me to you.' This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation" (Gen. 3:14-15).

In the verses above, the Hebrew term for Lord is Yahweh, "YHVH," the covenant name of the God of Israel.  It is no mistake that Jesus referred to himself in these "I Am" terms:

"Before Abraham was I am" (John 8:58).
"I am the bread of life" (John 6:35,48,51).
"I am the light of the world" (John 8:12).
"I am the gate/door of the sheep" (John 10:7,9).
"I am the good shepherd" (John 10:11,14).
"I am the resurrection, and the life" (John 11:25).
"I am the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).
"I am the true vine" (John 15:1,5).
"I am the Alpha and the Omega" (Revelation 22:13).
